When children arrive at The Well for school every morning, there’s a cheerful smile waiting for them.
As a security guard, Purity monitors the entrance to The Well but she plays a much bigger role in our community than solely security.
Since joining Oasis for Orphans in 2022, she has been a faithful cheerleader and encourager for the children at The Well.
“Purity is a safe place for children at Oasis, making room to listen to them, encourage them, and be part of their lives,” says Laura Jacobs, the U.S. Operations Specialist for Oasis. “She might keep the property physically safe, but she knows how to create emotional safety for the children because she’s received it herself.”
Like all Oasis staff members, part of Purity’s benefits package includes education for her children. Her children have thrived in their studies—and Purity has been an active member of our community, sitting in on devotionals and spending time with other staff members.
At Oasis, we want to be a safe refuge not only for vulnerable children, but also for our staff. For many of our staff members, their work is personal; they are healing from past trauma alongside the children they support every day.
