When we first learned of Grace, she was living with her elderly grandmother who suffers from lung cancer. Providing even one meal a day was a struggle.
As our team visited her home, they were overcome by the thick smoke that consumed the air. Burning firewood inside had become the norm for this family. Grace looked at us, her eyes only open a quarter of the way, teary, red and extremely sensitive to light. Grace’s grandmother told us the young girl was in extreme pain and thought to be going blind.
We believed a different outcome was possible.
Once Grace joined The Shelter, we immediately took her to the clinic. She was diagnosed with a severe eye infection. Thankfully, medicated drops and natural supplements made a drastic difference in a short matter of time.
Today, Grace has clearer eyes and more JOY than ever before.
Additionally, one of our Kenyan mamas at The Shelter was touched by the grandmother’s situation so she organized a team from her church to help move the stove outside.
Not only have you changed Grace’s life, but you have impacted the community as well.
