The Road to The Well

The-Road-to-The-Well

Our next step in the 2025 growth plan has been to look for land and, if possible, acquire an existing children’s home. When we position ourselves with hands held open, free to give and receive, God provides.

And, in this situation, God provided both at an accelerated pace.

The first several months of our search were exploratory. Our team drove over 6300 km on paved and unpaved paths, met with government officials, waited in land offices, and routed around riots.

We soon received a call, figuratively and literally, with an opportunity to purchase a children’s home. Through some divine appointments and discussions, there were now 40 children being placed on our hearts.

God was responding to our prayer. Or, perhaps more accurately, we were responding to His.

This children’s home, renamed The Well, rests just above a beautiful lake teeming with wildlife. While the flower farms surrounding the lake provide income for many people, Kenyan laborers are grossly underpaid and regularly abused and sexually assaulted by employers. Many women become pregnant and deliver unwanted babies in the fields, leaving them to die. Roughly half of the population in this area are children under the age of five.

Prostitution is rampant in the nearby city as the primary road through the city is along ‘AIDS Highway.’ (AIDS Highway is the truck route that runs through certain areas of Southwest Kenya). This brings more unwanted pregnancies and orphaned children.

When Oasis first visited The Well, we were amazed at the size of the property, noticeably large at four acres. The 40 children living on-site are precious and beautiful.

Our hands have remained open as God has made a clear path forward. We will close the sale of the project in October, well under our anticipated budget for our next site.

We have been gifted the opportunity to care for 40 children this fall, and we look forward to having a total impact of 150 children as we expand homes and education. This is a God-sized story.

The total cost of this home is $200,000, which will give us ownership of the land, including girls and boys housing, a school, a playground, a garden, and an expanded kitchen.

We have an incredible opportunity to expand our impact today!
