The Water’s Stirring

The-Waters-Stirring

There is something to be said about the mechanics and motion of an ocean wave. Long before a wave releases, the water stirs as the current pulls the water out deeper and deeper. If you’ve ever had your feet in the water at the beach, then you’ve literally felt the power of a wave.

Like the start of a wave, we at Oasis are feeling a pull to something more, something deeper. Early next week our staff and board will converge in Kenya to lean into what the Lord is saying and doing.

Over and over again, we look at the number of orphaned children all around us and wonder how the 110,000, so desperately in need, will be reached. Each child we meet has a name and a story. When the world says “forgotten and alone”, we long to say “Welcome Home.”

The goal for our time in Kenya is two-fold. We want to look back on what the Lord has done and celebrate his faithfulness in the rescuing of more than 210 children. At the same time, we’re intentionally pressing into the new thing the Lord is stirring.

We’re currently riding the wave the Lord has had us on for the past year, but our spirits are being stirred. We don’t fully see the new wave rising, but we feel the pressure pulling us back out. Our response is to come together.

At this moment, a team of photographers and videographers are traveling across Kenya with some of our US staff. They hope to capture the unfolding stories of redemption, hope, change, and a positive future.

Pray for our team and board as we come together to intercede on behalf of the children in Kenya and endeavor to hear what the Lord is saying. We long to courageously step into the current and feel the pull of a more powerful wave. Pray for us as we lay out a strategy to rescue the next 500, then 1000 children.

We are confident the Lord is in this, and we are looking forward to going deep together.
