Spiritual development is not just one pillar of holistic development at Oasis; it is inside every element, at the very core of the Oasis identity. That truth comes through in the letter below from one student at The Valley. Whether he was playing football with a staff member who was showing love, finding healing from past trauma with a counselor, studying the Bible in school as a favorite subject, or attending a morning devotional time… God’s love is at work in every single detail. It is such a privilege to watch each child’s life transform as he or she encounters that love.
Dear Oasis,
I am one of the pupils here at The Valley. I have engaged in many activities such as spiritual, social, physical, and education activities. My favorite game is football. I also love spiritual programs. I am close to the social worker staff, who help me to solve problems that I am facing. Teachers help me to solve problems in mathematics.
My life has improved through the counseling department. I did not believe in Jesus Christ as the Savior and protector. Previously I struggled with understanding the Gospel, but now through the spiritual department, I know who is Jesus Christ. Now I know who is my Jesus.
I have learned that God is in authority in the lives of the sick, poor, rich, and humble ones. Jesus is the protector and way maker. I have felt that God is love. He has been guiding me towards my goals. I am in Class 7 (a pre-candidate!). Next academic year I am a candidate [for graduation from primary school]. My favorite subjects are math, science, and Christian Religious Education. The subject that is difficult to me is social studies. I am feeling happy because I am going to qualify to a secondary education.
The kind of future that I need is to be a Christian and to help children like I have been helped. In the future, I want to be a professor. I would like to help my parents to live a good life. Oasis has helped me to know that I belong.
